Community Service

Community Service often goes hand in hand with Social Action, because often the service we provide is oriented toward those in our society who are overlooked, who have not had the resources that many of us do, are in the minority, are suffering from unfair treatment, or just need a helping hand.  Here are some of the ways the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington serves our community.

UUCL currently participates in God's Pantry Food Bank

Religious Education programs contribute to The Hope Center and other homeless shelters.

LexCUUPs, (Lexington Covenant of UU Pagans), supports the Lexington Humane Society.

A number of congregants mentor students at Harrison Elementary School.

Members of the church have assisted in building a homes with Habitat for Humanity.

The Moms' Group has raised funds for the medical needs of women in third world countries.

Members volunteer at the Emerson Center, a retirement home which is owned by UUCL, but which is self-sustaining.

UUCL's volunteer their time at the Manchester Center, a neighborhood outreach center in the downtown area.
