Religious Education: What to do on Sundays!

You are welcome to come to UUCL and participate fully in church and the RE program on any Sunday. Please note that some days, we will depart from the usual schedule (see “All Ages” services)

We appreciate it if you arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of the 11:00 am service, so that we can have a chance to talk and show you around the church. Through the doors to your right, we have a newcomer table, and if you have questions about RE they will introduce you to the DRE (Director of Religious Exploration, Stacey Stone ) or other helpers.

Every other Sunday, there is a Children’s Time in the sanctuary and the children can come forward if they choose. At about 11:15 am the children are released to their classes with the Guide. Parents of young children are encouraged to accompany them to the RE space, to help with transition. The preschool & kindergarten Guides need to meet you before your child can stay. We want to be sure that the children leave with the same person(s) they came with.

We ask that your children, youth & teens are dressed comfortably so that they can fully participate in the activities which could include art materials, cooking, yoga, drama, or walking on the grounds in a variety of weather. Bring a jacket to class, if it is chilly outside!

We will provide a snack, so please let us know if there are any food allergies or medical concerns. There is a Registration and consent for photo form. When children are registered with the RE program, we can keep an accurate count of attendance. Special event mailings are sent out to the registered families. There is no fee for registering your child(ren). There are many ways that parents can help support the RE program from donating healthy snack items and much more.

The RE classes end at 12:30 pm . If you need to pick your child up earlier, please let the Guide know. The Preschool/ kindergarten children are picked up at the top of the stairs at 12:30 pm . Babies or toddlers in childcare, may be picked up at your earliest convenience.

If you have a baby, we have a nursery upstairs in the classroom wing. You and your baby are welcome to stay in the service as long as you are both comfortable. If you need to tend to your baby, we have a rocking chair in the lobby with a sound system to hear the service. Feel free to use the facilities (or toys) in the nursery. There is paid childcare offered from 9 am- 12:30 pm every Sunday. If your child is upset and needs you, we will come to the service to let you know. We also have a toddler room for children 18 mos.-3 yrs. It is downstairs in the blue door room with larger toys to support gross motor skills, and a play kitchen..

Parents are able to stay with the child(ren) as long as needed. There is a check-in clipboard in both rooms with paid childcare providers. Sometimes a parent is asked to assist, if the child/adult ratio is high.
