What to Expect

Opening

After some brief opening music, we will begin with gathering words and the lighting of the UUCL Chalice. You are encouraged to light a chalice, tealight, candle, or other flame in your home on camera. This is a simple act that connects us via the symbol of our faith.

Music and Hymns

We have some simple hymns prepared by our Music Director. The lyrics will be posted in the chat or via a slideshow. Sometimes we will have live music, sometimes we will have recorded performances.

Joys and Sorrows

We look to meaningfully incorporate Joys and Sorrows into our online experience. You are also encouraged to directly reach out to our Pastoral Care Associates to share your joys or sorrows. We will include them in a moment of reflection during the service. Your church community is here for you, whether we are meeting in person or online.

Reading and Homily

A Worship Associate will be invited to offer the reading for the day, followed by a homily from the Minister. These will sometimes be recorded, so we can offer up the homily to a wider audience beyond Sunday morning.

Closing

Our service will conclude, as usual, with some announcements, a benediction, and the offering. If we use a responsive reading, it will be made available in the chat or in a slideshow.

Offerings

Our offerings will make use of the text giving platform we’ve been implementing. For those of you who mail in your pledges directly, please continue to do so. You have our gratitude for your continued generosity during this time!
