Welcoming & Affirming
UUCL welcomes and affirms people of all abilities, and we have taken the following steps to assure that no one is excluded from full participation in the life of our church.
Our sanctuary, fellowship hall, and religious exploration classrooms are fully accessible to those using wheelchairs or having limited mobility. The exception is the downstairs nursery, which has one step down from the outside entrance.
Large print hymnals are always available. We also have a braille hymnal. Please ask any usher for assistance. If you would like an orientation tour of the campus during the week, you may contact the church office to make arrangements.
If you would like for your child to participate in the religious exploration program, and feel that they may require special accommodation due to learning disabilities or behavioral issues, please contact the Director of Religious Exploration in advance so that we can do our best to make arrangements.
Leashed, documented, and appropriately vested service animals are welcome in all areas of our facilities. We have plenty of green space for service animals to relieve themselves. At this time, we can only accommodate trained service animals.
We provide Pastoral Care to all members regardless of ability. To build the beloved community, the Pastoral Associates receive special training to assist those who may feel unwelcome, patronized, or marginalized. They may not be able to fully remedy every situation, but they can provide a compassionate ear and a willingness to enlist the help of others. If you have a disability that you think it’s important for someone to know, please contact the Pastoral Associates or the Minister to share your information in confidence.
