Stacey Stone
Founder - LEX Center for Creative ReUse
March - April
This journey began at a national UU conference for DREs when Stacey first learned about Creative ReUse. Dismayed that Lexington (actually the entire state of Kentucky!) did not have a creative reuse center, Stacey began to research the process for starting a nonprofit. With support of friends and a generous donation from UUCL church members, a creative reuse center in Lexington became a reality.
LEX Center for Creative ReUse (LCCR) officially opened its doors in August 2022. The center is the culmination of Stacey’s lifelong passion for creativity and her concern for the environment. Creative reuse is a great way to raise awareness, increase access to materials, and support local schools and nonprofits, while diverting materials from the landfill. Since 2022, she has built a supportive, inspiring and diverse LCCR community of educators, artists, and creators of every age.
We thank Stacey for her 19 years of service as Director of Religious Exploration at UUCL… and the many ways she continues to make Lexington a more just and compassionate place with her UU values on full display!
